A DIN rail power supply is a type of switching power supply characterized by a specific mounting on a DIN rail, also known as a hat rail. The DIN rail is a metal mounting bracket with fixed standard dimensions, designed by the Deutsche Institut von Normen, used as a component of boxes, cabinets or electrical panels to facilitate the assembly of components.
The advantage of using a DIN rail lies precisely in the standardization of the structure: in this way different types of switches, relays, industrial PCs and power supplies can be purchased from different suppliers with the certainty that all products can be mounted on the same rail.
