The main features of graphic LCD displays
Graphic LCDs are designed to be integrated into small-medium sized solutions, they are ideal for graphic display and are simple and immediate to install.
Thanks to LCD technology, the properties of liquid crystals are used which modulate the passage of light beams coming from the plates placed on the back of the device. The electrical contacts present in these plates are therefore able to stress the pixels that make up the image inside the LCD module.
Graphic LCD modules can have several applications, including:

What is a character LCD module
Character LCD modules are a very common and widely used type of compact display, especially in industrial environments. Thanks to LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology, these modules are able to exploit the light modulation properties of liquid crystals using flat panel technology.
Character displays are characterized by specific standard formats: 8x1, 8x2, 12x2, 16x1, 16x2, 16x4, 20x2, 20x4, 24x2, 40x2, 40x4; the individual modules are in fact integrated into more complex interfaces, in order to increase their level of readability and visualization. The character display solutions proposed by Digimax can be integrated thanks to a large number of interfaces including 8080, SPI and I2C.
The available characters represent major graphemes such as English/Japanese, European, Scandinavian, Cyrillic and Hebrew/Arabic. The LED backlight can also be customized in yellow-green, white, blue, black and gray colors.
Digimax offers character displays with 5V operating voltage as standard and 3V or 3.6V options on request.
How alphanumeric LCD displays work
The main technologies used within alphanumeric LCD panels include TN, STN, FSTN standards; the display modes are usually of two types:
- Positive: with dark characters on a light background;
- Negative: with light characters on a dark background.
