Switches are control points with the function of opening and closing a circuit by acting directly on the electrical system.

Buttons perform a similar function to switches, but once released they return to their original position.

Switches

Digimax offers two switch options on its catalog: tactile switches and rocker switches.

Tactile switches are electrical on/off switches that are only turned on when there is a certain amount of pressure or when the button is pressed.

They have a small footprint and come in many sizes and are commonly used in many consumer electronic devices such as keyboards, control panels, and telecommunication networks.

Tactile switches are the perfect interface solution for many applications including: automotive (airbags, air conditioning and heating, door handles), aerospace (cabin lights and flight attendant buttons) and industrial (control panels and instrumentation).

In contrast, rocker switches are equipped with a spring-loaded button. When the pushbutton is pressed into a position, the circuit is completed. On the other hand, if the button is released, the spring operation returns the button to its home position and the circuit is open.
