The importance of heat sinks in LED systems
The operation of a LED lighting system is intrinsically linked to the operating temperature. A LED device is never 100% efficient: about half of its power is dissipated as heat, from which derive the efficiency of 40 or 50%.
A poorly managed temperature of the LED lighting system is often the first cause of failures and malfunctions: although the limit is generally high, excessive heat can cause deterioration in brightness, color shifting, or reduced lifetime of individual LED chips.
Usually made of aluminum, the LED heat sinks are an important device for regulating the temperature of LED components within tolerable limits, to avoid overheating that could cause various types of damage.
Digimax's experience in choosing the right LED heat sink
Digimax has an extensive catalog of LED heat sinks certified and designed for major LED manufactures, with different thermal resistance, diameter, height and mount. You can also choose the most suitable LED dissipation technique between active and passive.
LED heat sinks from our partner MechaTronix include the ModuLED and IceLED devices, which are highly effective for professional use in spotlights, LED downlights, high bay lights and a wide range of industrial and architectural lighting applications. Each Digimax LED heat sink has mounting holes that allow easy attachment without the need for brackets or drills.
In addition to this wide range we can tailor solutions to meet customer needs: it is also possible to find the ideal LED heat sink with the specific MechaTronix selector.
