The international market dedicated to battery charging solutions is growing strongly, driven by the ever-increasing trend of electrification. What features are required for a smart charger?

The most innovative smart chargers not only have top-level hardware features, which are now considered indispensable, but also offer additional functionality in terms of management and programmability. The NPB smart charger series is designed with an integrated microcontroller that enables self-detection of the battery and will automatically adjust the charging voltage settings (mode suitable for lithium-ion batteries with BMS).

Charging can be selected in 2 or 3 stages, adjustable via the SPB001 programmer, as well as charging voltage/current and timeout regulation; of course, adjustment tasks can also be carried out in manual mode via the integrated switch with 4 pre-set profiles for fast and effective configuration.

The NPB series also has an integrated CANBus protocol that allows the charger to be set up and remotely monitored. These chargers are certified with the most important international standard for industrial applications such as IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 and EN60335-1/-2-29.

Among the most common applications in which this type of hardware can be used are all electric and hybrid mobility systems, such as electric and hybrid cars recharge used for motorhomes, electric scooters, skateboards, service robots, medical trolleys, electric wheelchairs, boats and yachts.
